Projekte Zwettl and Wienerwald
As part of the project Take-ÖV by the Ministry of Transpor, Innovation
and Technology (BMVIT), a partial project is being undertaken together
with Verkersverbund Ostregion (VOR), the ÖBB-Postbus GmbH and CoCo
Software Engineering GmbH, where the city area of Zwettl, Rastenfeld
and the area of the Wienerwald are being equipped with BEHA-Points.
The internal test operation began in December 2004, the BEHA Terminals
have been installed at the end of February 2005.
Zwettl
In Zwettl, 9 BEHA Points are used in the city traffic. The goal
is to reduce the overall time taken by the bus to drive the whole
course, so that the round course has less delays and the punctuality
as well as the service quality get better. Additionally, the BEHA
Poinst allow to serve new stops and to enhance the area served by
the bus that way, without giving up the cycle time of 1 hour. As
a result, stops like the train station are now integrated in the
service area of the city bus. Some of the less frequently used of
the old stops are now only served on demand, which results in the
necessary time savings.
Rastenfeld
In Rastenfeld, one BEHA Terminal is used in the centre of the village
in a classic detour scenario. The bus does not have to leave the
main route unless there is an order at the BEHA for him. That way,
besides less fuel is burned and less time wasted, also noise exposure
in the centre is reduced.
Wienerwald
In the area of the Wienerwald south to Vienna, 10 BEHA Points were
installed on the regional bus lines 354 and 255. Most of the courses
of these lines did not serve the end of the valleys very frequently,
so the villages at the end of the valleys suffered from a poor service
and had only a very few busses a day.
In Wienerwald, the BEHAs are used to allow the busses to drive
to the end of the valley on request, greatly enhancing the service
offered in the area. This enhancement of approximately 33% (of potencial
miles driven) does not require additional human resources of drivers,
because the payed driving times of the drivers are utilized more
efficiently which allows to serve the additional trips in the rest
times.
