Ordering the Bus at the BEHA Point
At each on-demand stop you can find a terminal using GPRS. At the push of a button the passenger can book a bus The display on the BEHA Point will indicate the time of arrival of the bus including expected delays. No cables need to be laid for the installation of the BEHA Point, since the terminals operate on solar energy.
Alternative Ways of Ordering the Bus
Users can simply order the bus and obtain information via SMS, WAP or on the WEB. Even information on drives which are not on demand can be provided by the system.
the server
The TMS (Transport Management System) developed by CoCo Mobile Telematics is used on the main server. It manages information about all schedules for buses and drivers, and allows for fully automatic disposition. This server brokers orders between the BEHA Point, the passenger and the bus driver, and coordinates the buses fully automatically. Communication with the Bus Driver The BEHA Server forwards the orders it recieves to the apporpriate bus. The bus driver's dash board is equipped with a mobile phone using GPRS. A special java application shows the driver incoming orders from the pasengers. This order can be confirmed by the driver. Passengers whishing to get off at stops on demand tell the driver as they board the bus. The driver can enter these requests into the application, so the system can answer each future request automatically, without having to confirm with the driver. As an option, the bus can be fitted with a GPS reciever. This extension allows a precise prediction of the arrival times without their manual entry by the driver, and avoids the need for entering requests for getting off at stops on demand. The GPS option opens possibilities to further applications of our platform, such as short term dynamically planned area-based transport services (collective taxi, etc).
